YEAR 3 WALK AROUND ABERYSTWYTH TOWN |
|
On Friday, the 9th of September, year 3 went on a trip around town. We started off by seeing the chair that Gwenallt had won in the 1931 National Eisteddfod in Bangor. We then went through the cemetery to see his grave. Next, we passed the Urdd office, and saw where the first ysgol gymraeg used to be, with only seven children in the whole school. Next, we walked to Pound Place where they used to care for stray animals. Then to Poplar Row where Mr and Mrs Morgan met us and gave us squash and biscuits! (mmm…) In Poplar Row there used to be trees with a stream running through it. We then saw Skinner Street where Mr Morgan (the caretaker) told us of its history, there was once a big oven there. We then walked past Morris and Bates, Morris and Bates used to be a big iron foundry. We walked past the old Ysgol Gymraeg (Mummy went there). We walked past Banc y Ddafad Ddu (the first bank in the country they say.) We went to the park (yipee!), then up to the castle. There are 13 stones with the names of the counties on them. Finally, we all took a picture under the Angel of Peace, the statue to remember all those who lost their lives in the war. |
